A photographer has captured the incredible moment a murmuration of starlings took the shape of a rabbit over the British skyline just before New Year's Eve (December 30).
Len Copland was snapping the phenomenon at Ham Wall nature reserve near Glastonbury, Somerset, at dusk when the flock took on the recognisable rabbit shape.
The swarm first takes the shape of a rabbit's head with long ears and then transforms into a side-on view of the animal.
Copeland commented: "What an amazing sight! Such poetic shapes"
보통 철새들은 "V"자 모양으로 날아갑니다.
가장 큰 2가지 이유는 새들 간의 커뮤니케이션, 그리고 공기저항을 줄여서 (뒤에서 날아가는 새들이) 좀 더 편하게 날기 위한 이유로 추측되고 있습니다.
헌데 우연인지 몰라도 12월 30일 영국에서 목격된, 이런 형태로 날아가는 새떼는 좀 낯설죠.
